GRM Academic Enrichment, GED and Computer Traning

 
 
The GRM Academic Enrichment, GED and Computer Training Institute is a multifaceted adult education facility providing complete Literacy, and Workforce Readiness Training essential to gaining successful re-entrance in to society. The Institute is a vocational training facility recognized by national, state, and local authorities for its programs and academic excellence.
 
The GRM Academic Enrichment, GED and Computer Training Institute offers courses for the men and women currently participating in residential treatment programs at GRM, as well as for others in the community who may be seeking to further their education, enhance their professional development skills, or increase their value in marketplace. The staff of the GRM Institute is committed to excellence and will make every effort to assist students in achieving individual goals.
 
Life Skills training is taught to assist students in developing the appropriate situational judgment that is required to successfully navigate day-to-day life. The GRM Institute sponsors courses that cover conflict resolution, time management, financial planning and Job Readiness training.
 
Academic Enrichment and Remediation training is available for students who are functioning below the eight grade level. This training primarily focuses on individualize and group tutoring sessions that reintroduce basic reading, writing and math skills.
 
GED Preparation training is designed for individuals who are functioning on a 10th grade reading and math level who desire to prepare for GED exam. In this training student receive test prep coaching and focus on critical thinking skills to assist them in successfully navigating the official GED exam.
 
Computer Skills Training Program (CSTP) provides basic IT education including HTML knowledge. Completion of CSTP is equivalent to MS Core Certification. Each student is expected to spend at least 1.5 hours in the computer lab each week in addition to the other availalbe times during the day or evening in order to receive a wider rang of knowledge in the program. 
 
Art Therapy is a self-enhancement course designed to give students an overview of how artistic expression is involved in personality building. Through art students will develop a working knowledge of Art; learn how to use the basic principles of design to create works of Art; understand the psychological impact of self-expression and be able to use art as a means of self-therapy.
 
 
Job Readiness & Economic Literacy is a Biblically-based career development course designed to prepare adult learners for re-entry into the marketplace with permanent full-time employment. This three-month program consists of coursework in basic skills, technology education, economic literacy, Biblical-based work principles, as well as employment search assistance. The following are only a few examples of what is covered in the course:
 
    • Completing a career inventory to identify interests and skills
    • Developing a resume
    • Composing a cover letter
    • Networking with other job seekers
    • Interviewing skills
    • Using the internet to conduct job searches
    • Completing a job application
